So I started a co-op 1. I’m hopeful it will lead to more friends for my homeschooled children. I also hope it will lead to more support for me as the parent.
Back in Austin we found a lovely co-op. It sadly was only about a year before we left for Canada. It was a co-op that was child driven and parent led. It was so much fun.
I’m not sure I will be able to weather all the admin, eventual issues, or upheavals, but I’m going to give it my best. The kids decided on classes. I’ll be teaching weird science – think eggs in a bottle, rock candy, floating bowling balls, and more.
I’m teaching Table Top games too. I’m always amazed by how much children learn playing boardgames 2 3 , and I’m not the only one. Here’s a 41 page paper on the power of boardgames 4.
Anyway, today was our meet and greet. It had me basking in the promise and hope of it all. Here’s to the hard work of community building and to the joy of playing games.
